Natural Gas in East Africa
As gas use expands across electricity, industrial, and agricultural sectors, Synova Fuels focuses on converting locally available gas in Ethiopia and Tanzania into high-value synthetic fuels, hydrogen, ammonia, and urea, strengthening energy security and reducing reliance on imported fuels and fertilizers.
East Africa has emerged as one of the continent’s most important natural gas regions, anchored by significant offshore discoveries in Tanzania and long-established onshore gas resources in Ethiopia. Africa’s total natural gas supply reached ~6.0 million TJ in 2023, more than tripling since 2000, with East Africa playing a growing role in domestic production and regional energy supply. Tanzania alone ranks among Africa’s top gas producers, while Ethiopia continues to advance gas development to support power generation, industry, and fertilizer production.

Turning Africa’s Gas into Cleaner Energy
Synova Fuels Inc. is an Africa-focused clean fuels company developing modular Gas-to-Liquids facilities that convert natural gas into premium synthetic diesel, jet fuel, hydrogen, and industrial products.
Backed by proven and operational EGTL technology, Synova delivers scalable energy infrastructure that improves fuel quality, strengthens energy security, and unlocks value from underutilized gas resources

Proven Technology. Modular Deployment. Multiple Revenue Streams.
Synova deploys Enhanced Gas-to-Liquids technology to produce drop-in synthetic fuels and hydrogen using a modular plant design. Facilities can be right-sized to local conditions and expanded over time as demand grows.
Key advantages include:
-
Modular plants starting at hundreds of barrels per day
-
Scalable to multi-train facilities exceeding 5,000 bpd
-
No reliance on complex refinery infrastructure
-
Ability to co-produce hydrogen and industrial by-products
This approach lowers execution risk while preserving long-term upside.
Converting Abundant Gas into Strategic Energy Assets
Across Africa, natural gas is abundant but often underutilized, flared, or stranded from end markets. At the same time, demand for clean, reliable liquid fuels continues to rise, driven by transportation, mining, power generation, and industrial growth.
Synova Fuels addresses this imbalance by converting locally available gas into high-value, ultra-clean fuels that work in today’s engines and infrastructure. This creates a direct link between domestic resources and domestic energy demand.
